PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT CAMP ( 2017-2018) - 22-07-2017

DAV School, Adambakkam has been expanding its wings not only in academic excellence, but also in co-scholastic areas. In this connection a 'Personality Development Camp' was conducted for VIII Std boys on 22nd July and 23rd July, 2017 at D.A.V. School, Adambakkam.

This camp has provided a platform to enrich the life skills of the students and to face the challenges in the world with newer perceptions. In human life, the habits relating to the formation of thoughts, emotions and actions play an important role. It is habits which mould personality or harm it. To nourish and strengthen those habits, eminent personalities from all walks of life were invited. Training modules are designed to instill and cultivate virtues, which are necessary for the welfare of the student community and the society as well.

First session was handled by Mr. Prakash, a social worker. His thunderous proclaim of 'Glorious Bharath Yesterday and Today', not only illunimated but also triggered patriotic fervour which will generate a tremendous power in the young minds.

Second session was engaged by Dr. Kollapa Pillai M.D., (Siddha). He got the best Doctor award from Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, awarded by the Health Minister V.S. Vijay in April 2012. He is one of the trustees of World Siddha Federation and he is the editor of the magazine 'Siddha Bharathi'. He is running a siddha clinic at Tambaram. He is not only the Correspondent of Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Mudichur but also the President of 'Saptha Rishi Mandali', Sri Vyasar Tapovanam.

The most interesting programme was given by the Siripananda Mr. Sampath, M.Com., Diploma in Yogic therapy, Diploma in accutheraphy. He has trained nearly 3.5 lakhs of people in laughter yoga. His target is to cover 1 crore people. His session in our school was 2720th programme. He defines laughter as 'Siripae Sivam'.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed arts and crafts session by Dr. Ramani. He is a retired professor of arts and crafts in Advanced Institute of higher learning. He has been training students of B.Ed., and M.Ed. in various colleges. He got his Ph.D. in Tamil Literature. We could see a keen desire among the students to learn and to harbour the skills involved in arts and crafts.

On the Second day, the 'First aid demonstration' session, was handled by Dr. Sudha, Principal of M.A. Chidambaram College of Nursing. Her educational qualifications include B.Sc.Nursing, P.G. Diploma in Victimization & Victim Assistance, M.A. - Child Care & Education, M.B.A. - Education Management, M.Sc. in Child Health Nursing and Ph.D. in 'Psycho Physiological Effect of playing violent video games among children in Chennai'. Her session was excellent and informative with effective live demonstrations.

Sri N.C. Sridharan, an advocate, Human Resource Trainer, Management Consultant and Honorary Correspondent of Sri. R.M. Jain Vidyashram presided over the valedictory function of the camp. He is also the editor of the magazine 'Vanamae Ellai' and has authored many number of books on parenting and other education related topics. Parents were also invited for the function. He motivated and captivated the parents through his power of eloquence. 

Through this camp the school has succeeded in helping the students to bring out the talent potential and to accomplish in all their efforts propelling towards excellence.
