Founding Story
Where It All Began
DAV School, Adambakkam was established in 1985 with a vision to offer quality education rooted in Indian values while embracing modern teaching methods.
Over the years, our school has grown into a vibrant learning community where academic excellence meets ethical education.
The early years were defined by community spirit, dedicated educators and parents who believed education could transform lives. The foundation laid during these years still guides our values today.
At DAV, we foster a culture that celebrates effort, curiosity and respect. Students are empowered to question, explore and innovate, becoming well-rounded global citizens who lead with empathy and integrity.

The Visionary Behind DAV School, Adambakkam
In the early 1980s, there were more than 2000 boys and girls of Adambakkam going to various schools in the City in search of quality education. The parents were spending anxious moments for the safe return of their wards.
During the middle of 1980s, the number has swelled to 4000. In order to satisfy the demand of parents for high quality education at Adambakkam itself and to save the children from considerable trouble and risk, our DAV School was started as a small effort in 1985, with 570 students on its roll with 25 teachers at Adambakkam. Dr. S.Varadarajan, who had natural leadership qualities, inspired and motivated many volunteers and local leaders to help in his efforts.
With the Blessings of the God Almighty and the hardwork of Dr.S.Varadarajan and the co-operation of everyone, today the strength of the School has grown to 7000 students and about 300 teachers.
Over the years, the School has become one of the best educational institutions sought after by students and parents alike. We impart education with the sole aim of moulding children instilling in them self- discipline, civic sense, respect to elders, patriotism and good behaviour, so that we have the satisfaction of doing our bit in producing disciplined, patriotic and duty abiding citizens to the future well being of our Nation.
Judging from the caliber, behavior and manners of the studying and passed out children, the demand for admission in our school is overwhelming and we are constantly struggling to meet the demand.
The Expansion
The journey of DAV School has always been guided by a clear purpose to make quality education accessible to evolving communities while upholding strong academic and value-based foundations.
Recognizing the growing educational needs beyond urban centres, the institution extended its presence to Santhavelur near Sunguvarchatram, a rapidly developing region along the Chennai Bengaluru National Highway. Surrounded by several emerging residential pockets and satellite villages, the area had long awaited access to a structured CBSE curriculum. Responding to this need, DAV School, Sunguvarchatram was established, bringing well-rounded, high-quality education closer to the community.
It continues to uphold the institution’s core focus on academic excellence, discipline and holistic development.
Building on this momentum, the institution is now expanding its footprint to Coimbatore, at Narasimhanaickenpalayam. Known as one of Tamil Nadu’s prominent industrial and educational hubs, Coimbatore offers a vibrant environment shaped by innovation, enterprise and progressive thinking making it an ideal setting for nurturing future-ready learners.
The upcoming campus, currently in its final stages of development, has been thoughtfully planned to reflect the institution’s commitment to both academic depth and infrastructure excellence. Designed to provide a balanced and engaging learning environment, the campus will encourage curiosity, independent thinking and strong personal values.
This phase of growth represents more than geographic expansion; it reflects a continued commitment to reaching wider communities and creating meaningful spaces where students can learn, grow and thrive with confidence and purpose.
